Counseling and psychotherapy of marital couples and other partners
Special counseling sessions are designated for marriage or partnership couples. Clients undergo the counseling process or therapy as a couple, with optional consultations with a therapist as a pair or individual. Likewise, individual sessions may be requested by one spouse or one partner, separately, if the other person cannot or is not willing to take part in the therapy jointly. Marriage and partner counseling and therapy focus on a broad range of possible problems, such as partner selection and getting to know one another by means of extramarital relationships, and sexual discords up to long-lasting chronic crises that affect all aspects of living in a relationship. Sometimes, these problems may concern more members of a family or the children. We speak of "treating" marital disorders or partner cohabitation, aiming to repair failing relationships and influence them positively, and to help them handle severe conflicts and critical situations.
